Design Brochures That Sell

Brochures that tell your company’s or organization’s story are powerful tools.  Getting the right mix of graphic design and compelling written content is one of the biggest challenges.

Before you hire a designer answer these questions:

  1. Why should a potential customer pick up and read my brochure?
  2. What do I want to tell my customer or potential customer about my business?
  3. Can I convey in the brochure the value and benefits to the customer from using my business?
  4. What do I want my customer to do after reading my brochure
  5. Does my brochure explain how and where to take action?

Creating The Right Type Brochure To Meet Your Needs

Five Types of Brochures

By answering the above questions you will be able to determine which type of brochure is the best investment for you to make.

1.) Sales Presentation Support
A powerful tool, designed to assist you in your face to face meeting with a potential customer.  The Sales Presentation Support Brochure includes key points of your verbal sales presentation with illustrations outlining key benefits of your product or service to the customer.  They help you quickly and thoroughly moving through your presentation and reinforce the sales points after the presentation has ended.

2.) Sales Follow-thru or Leave Behinds
A Follow-thru Brochure is designed for use after a presentation has been completed.  It should include a concise and compelling recap of the key presentation selling points. The brochure should offer additional information such as a Frequently Asked Questions section, technical specs (if necessary) and a call to action with clearly identified steps of taking action.

3.) Check-out or Point of Sale (POS)
The POS brochure is designed to capture the customer’s attention while waiting to check out.  The brochure may up-sell a product or service such as warranty protection, a special offer or a new product.  The POS Brochure should be colorful and compelling with large headlines, inviting and evocative images.

4.) Direct Mail
The Direct Mail brochure is as its name suggests sent to a pre-defined mailing list of potential customers.  The brochure typically features a special promotion or sale, the introduction of a new product or service.  A perfect tool for telling customers about your business particularly if you are new to the area.

5.) Inquiry Response Brochure
An Inquiry Response brochure is a triggered promotional piece sent to people who qualifies themselves by contacting your business and requesting information.  Depending upon the type of business you have, this type of brochure can be effective or counter-productive. A solution sales approach to marketing may use an inquiry response brochure to direct the interested party to your website for more detailed information or to contact you to set an appointment to discuss their needs.
